We are a collective of Latin American women that reimagines cities through research and action. We aim to serve as a platform that connects people and fosters dialogues that allow us to question, deconstruct and challenge present realities and imagine alternative futures.

Our collective brings together South American women from diverse fields, with backgrounds in public policy design, architecture, urban research, economics, technology, politics, and arts.

MANIFESTO

We understand cities as entities that are constantly in the making. They are not the product of a single, linear process—rather, they are being designed and re-designed everyday, whether intentionally or not.

Yet this design process is far from neutral or apolitical.

It often reflects and reinforces dominant narratives that perpetuate inequalities and injustices, particularly when embedded within prevailing logics of accumulation and development.

To think about cities otherwise, we believe in the power of participatory processes as drivers of transformation, while maintaining a critical perspective on their implementation.

We acknowledge that participation has often been reduced to a mere checkbox for inclusivity, stripped of its transformative potential.

However, we remain convinced that when done otherwise — these processes inherently shift power dynamics and help deconstruct dominant narratives.

This is the kind of participation we advocate for, and we accept nothing less.

At its core, our work is driven by a constant search for social and spatial justice. While we may not have definite answers, we understand that meaningful participation opens paths towards emancipation by amplifying voices that have been historically silenced.

We embrace processes that are decolonial, plural, diverse, and deeply rooted in local contexts, always envisioning futures grounded in justice, redistribution, care and collective emancipation.

We envision feminist cities that challenge the status quo and dare to be truly otherwise.
